Used Music Store Shortage

Hello again, didn't think I'd be blogging twice today, but here I am anyway.

I went out for my drive a few minutes after my previous post, in a search for some "new" music. Okay, so it came out in 2006, but I have not heard anything by the UK band The Heavy. At least not that I'm aware of. I grabbed my latest phone book provided by some guy who can fit into an above counter cabinet, and looked up used music stores. I found one in Lake Zurich, Yahoo Local(ed) it, and it came up with an immediate link with a map to get there. My mistake was in not dialing the digits listed before embarking. I got out to Lake Zurich in pretty good time thanks to my GTI (of course obeying the Rules of the Road to the letter), only to discover that in the bustling shopping district at Rtes 22 and 12, that particular store was gone. And it's not alone, the nearest one I can find, online anyway, is in Hoffman Estates, and if memory serves me, I'm pretty sure that one is gone as well. The internet may be great for many things, but it has killed a little thing called music retail shops. The kind of place where you can actually drive to in your car, or walk to if it's close enough. Open a door, interact with actual humans, and most likely find the album you want, or at least not leave empty handed. Not the point and click instant gratification crap called ITunes, or Napster, or any of the torrents and whatnot. I know that WAV files are damn near close to Master CD quality, but there is something about having a disc (or for you old true audiophiles, vinyl) that you can handle, and art work that you can hold, and all the info about everything that went into making the album, that you just don't get when you download it. And I dare to say, that CDs still sound better than the same album does on my IPod. So the internet has killed the jobs of people who really love music as much as me, and most of you! Damnit!!! I finally broke down and tried going to the mall, but in such a bad economy, I was surprised to find absolutely no available parking spot. That was enough, I'd had it. Feeling somewhat defeated and deflated, i went to get some food, and have since returned home. I'm now listening to some cds I already have, and doing some laundry, and feeling quite content about that. I still want to find a used music store though! Maybe tomorrow...

Until then, I hope you've all had a peachy keen weekend, and I will talk with some of you later (or all two of you as the case may well be).

Oh, and April, if you happen to read this at any time, I hope you are doing better, and that you've laughed at least once today.

Peace out y'all

Why I Like Driving My Car

For me, on most mornings, this is the first thing I see when I look out my bedroom window. When the sun is already up anyway. (I can pick out that badge with only moonlight :) )

It almost looks like it's already driving. Luckily however it's not, because if it were I'd have a car through my bedroom wall. Which is rarely a good thing.

I would go on, but I think I'm going to go for a drive.

Happy Lazy Sunday to all!

It almost looks like it wants to be driven.

What Happened?

Hey y'all, how's every doing? (please leave a comment and let me know)

Yesterday, after waiting all day for a chance to talk with April, I did, just to find out that one her friends committed suicide, and she wasn't in a talking mood. I totally get that as I've been though it myself. But today, when I got home from work, I went to send her a message on FB, and she has disappeared from my friends list. I tried searching for her and she seems to be gone. So I shot her an email, but I don't know when and if I'll hear back from her. That has gotten me kinda depressed, but more worried that I may be missing out on what could be a great friendship if I don't hear back. Where are you April?

In other news, I got tailed by a cop the other day, for no good reason. I didn't get pulled over, but he pulled one hell of a u-turn to tail me. Speaking of police, I helped to deliver some furniture to Bannockburn's Chief of Police today. To his house that is. When I first went in I noticed a huge dog food bowl near the front door. The house also smelled like a dog lived there. When I was leaving I told him that I could see the bowl, and smell the dog, but I couldn't see it. He told me that it was a good thing that I didn't. He was joking, I think... He's a nice enough guy though, I've met him before, through work that is...

I've been trying to find out if there are any available seats for the 1st and 2nd Jetta TDI Cup in Virginia, but the only response I've gotten from VW is that I missed the deadline for applying to drive in the race. I sent them another email saying that I just want to be a spectator (also that the maximum age for the race drivers is 26), but I have yet to hear back from them yet. I've wanted to go to a VW event for a long ass time now, and I need a road trip like no other, so I figured I could knock out both in one go, but now I don't know. First, the person who wanted to take a road trip with me has seemingly vanished, and I don't know if I went by myself I would be able to get in. Hmmmm...

Okay, April, if you're still out there, please let me know. To everyone else, love and food and good music for all is my wish for the day. And Booger Brain, i had a blast talking with you yesterday, love ya!

Peace out y'all

It hasn't been full week since I last blogged, yay!

I woke up this morning around 9:30, and turned on the stereo in my bedroom. After the last few seconds of the commercial that had been playing ended, a Kings of Leon song came on. I dug it, and then remembered that I'd purchased a Kings of Leon CD, Only By the Night, a couple of months back, and hadn't added it to my computer, meaning it also wasn't on my IPod, silly me. It's a good album, and I'm listening to it for the 3rd time today right now.

I didn't even clear what I made in tips last Saturday night, working this weekend starting on Thursday night. I got to go home early tonight though, but still. Oh well, life could be worse. There is a possibility that I might be taking a road trip in the near future, and if am thrilled at the chance. I really am feeling that really distracting itch to hit the road, and it seems I might have a good traveling companion to go with me this time, and possibly a dog too! My current VW has never had a dog in it before, I think it could work though, assuming he's not the size of Dent. Oh wait, snapfish sucks, and none of you have ever seen pictures of Dent, but he's a big dog.

Damn, now all I can think about is a road trip, and I suddenly can't think of anything else to blog about.

I hope you all had a great weekend, and I'd like to wish a good lazy sunday to everyone.

Peace out y'all

A New Record

I made a new record in tips at Dominos tonight! There is a bunch I could bitch about, but I came close to matching a Saturday night in tips when I drove for Ginos East, and that's saying something. It was in interesting group of people tonight, mainly singles, but a few couples and families. I even delivered to an old buddy, and got tipped $0.11...wow. And Vlad the Impaler is getting no easier for anybody to understand at all. I must say also that I dislike inaccurate cartographers.

I also got a new phone today, it's a Nokia. After about 9 attempts to remember the access code for the bluetooth speaker in my car I finally did, only to discover that the connection seems to suck. It's a music phone, I dig it even if the bluetooth link is poor. Somehow it has brought back pictures I took with a phone that I had years ago. Not sure what that's all about. I can however finally put my own music on my phone! Yay!!! I am excited to say the least...

Wow, I just discovered that I can watch the Jetta TDI Cup races on demand, so I am going to end this here and do just that. I hope you all had a good Valentines Day.

Peace out, and a happy lazy sunday to all!

Another Friday (on the 13th)

Another Friday night, and I ain't got nobody, oh wait, I've started posts with that line before...

take 2

Here it is Friday and I'm alone once again...damn...

take 3

....crap

Hey y'all, not trying to bring you down, nor am I looking for a sympathy party, just doing what the header of my blog says, venting and doing it online, yay technology. It is in fact Friday night, and it's a Friday the 13th. All in all it wasn't that bad of a day. I made it through my full time job with no incidents. My part time job went alright, although I found it difficult to keep my emotions in check for a bit. I didn't really flip out at anybody, but I came close. Not that any of them read my blog, but I'll apologize here anyway, sorry guys and gal. I made somewhat decent tips tonight, so that's cool.

You know what stinks? Skunk scent glands. Somebody scared a skunk near the Dominos parking lot tonight, and WOW was it potent!

Speaking of smelly things, I really want to smoke that funny green stuff right now. My nerves are on edge, my thoughts are all scrambled, and I feel too aware of what feels like everything. The beer I'm currently ingesting isn't helping any of those symptoms. Pot, the most natural of all the drugs is the one thing that calms me. It doesn't directly solve my problems, but it's the only thing I've tried over all these years that can actually slow my thoughts down to a tolerable rate. It's almost like an antidepressant for me. It calms me down enough to get my thoughts in order, in my own head anyway, not always when talking out loud, but I spend so much time alone that my head is my only companion. So it helps me get along with myself better. If only the government would allow the sale of it, WITHOUT having to tax it. Unlike other banned drugs, pot is the most harmless. If they allowed open trade of that one drug it may actually help a small part of this country's economical problem. Not going into the specifics of that right now. All I know is that if I had some to smoke right now I wouldn't be rambling like this!

I need to get out more, I'm so tired of sitting here alone night after night. I've been talking with an old acquaintance for a while now, online of course. And I wish like hell I'd known how similar we are a long time ago. Hey April, that's right, I'm talking about you, ha ha ha. If there was an easy way to take the train out to AH from here, I totally would have come over to talk to your dog the other night. I am still waiting for you to tell me about the current status of your license...

I want to go on about so much stuff, but I'm guessing that anybody that has read everything I've written so far tonight would really prefer I stop. Sorry y'all, I don't use my digital camera very often, so I rarely have pics to post. I rarely get out much, so I don't have cool or interesting events to talk about here. Most of the time I feel more like I'm writing for myself, and that nobody but my immediate family even reads this here blog.

On that happy note, the Beatles "I'm So Tired" just came up on the shuffle, so I'm going to piss off my neighbors right now and blast it, while at the same time end this post.

Good night, and good luck to all! Love ya, and hope everyone has good dreams!

Chairs, chairs and more chairs...

I know, I know, I haven't blogged in a while. I haven't had much I wanted to say lately. I've just been working, and working some more. No news on the relationship front. My tips have been fairly lousy as per usual, and I paid taxes on $1,000 in tips that I never actually made. So I've just been hanging in there, finding happiness where I can, even if it is just small little tidbits.

Two weekends ago I was invited to a party at my friend Brent's house. That was a great time. Most of us were up all night, and some of us saw the sun come up before we went to sleep. I hadn't done that is soooooooooo many years. Unfortunately the few women who were there were seeing people already, so no luck there, but it was still cool hanging out with them. I know that most of you who read this blog have heard all about that party, so I'll now move on to more recent happenings.

This last weekend I went to Jewel to get, well, food. It was rather busy there, but I spotted a girl from across the store, and she spotted me. We held eye contact for a few seconds, and in that time a slight smile came to her face. In that same moment, my mind decided that she was under the age of 22, so I paid her no attention after that, even as we came closer, and she kept looking at me. You see, I have personal rules for how young of a woman I want to date anymore, and 24 years is my low limit right now (5 years younger maximum). Here's the real kicker though, I had shaved my head (not completely bald, just really short) that morning, and when I do that I look like I'm 19 years old. It dawned on me later that she may have thought I was younger than I am, and it also dawned on me that she may have been older than she looked. So I kicked myself in my own ass for not having acknowledged her as we passed. As it happens, I've had a feeling in my gut for the last week or so that I am going to meet a girl very soon, and that may have been my one shot. Damn, damn, double damn!

Yesterday, as I got home from my full time job, my crazy neighbor was coming out of her apartment. We talked for a bit, and we are now at peace, issue resolved. So that's good! Even though she's still crazy, and dating that "guy", but hey, there is something to be said for mending bridges (even rickety ones).

And now to the title of this post. One of our biggest customers ordered 180 folding chairs yesterday, and 3 chair racks to hold them. Me and my drivers had to get to work at 6:30 (well me and my older driver were on time anyway), load up there vans, and get to the customer by 7. We brought everything up to the 3rd floor, and then I sent my drivers back to the office so they could get on with their regular routes. That left me, and me alone to put everything together. I was there until 11:20. So all in all, between the chairs and the racks, I installed over 2,000 lbs of seating. My shoulders are a little sore right now, and I got a nasty scratch on the bottom of my right wrist, which hurts while I'm typing right now, and will feel even better tomorrow when I have to put on a long sleeve shirt again. Yay.

I guess that's about all I have to share for now, other than there is a whole lot of police activity flying by my apartment for the last 2 hours, sirens blaring. It's kind of annoying, and it's making it kinda hard to concentrate on anything for more than 10 minutes at a time (that's right, some of us Americans have attention spans that last for more than 3 minutes!)! So I will end this here. Until next time, whenever that may be, I bid you all peace, tranquility, good food and great tunes! Peace out y'all!!!
